Maternity and Nursery Services

The philosophy at Maternity and Nursery Services at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital is that we’ll go out of our way to make it as close to your expectations as possible. There is no such thing as a standard birth at Maine Coast. The nursing staff will listen to the new mother and father and incorporate as many of their desires into the miraculous event as possible. Maine Coast Memorial Hospital provides all the up to date medical services required of a Level II birthing center.

Deliveries take place in our specialized Birthing Rooms. You will stay in the same room for your labor, delivery and initial recovery. Our goal is to provide as comfortable an atmosphere as possible. If you would like, bring in some of your favorite music or special pictures to make your room more like home. The mother may choose whom she would like present at the birth, for coaching and support. We have Pediatricians, Obstetricians, Certified Nurse Midwives, and Family Practitioners on staff and available 24 hours a day.

We want you to know that each and every delivery at MCMH is a Special Delivery. We have warm and caring nurses to help guide you through your birth and help you and your baby after delivery. We encourage our moms to be actively involved in their birthing process.
