Department of Nursing Education

The Mission of Maine Coast Memorial Hospital is Improving our communities with excellence in healthcare. The Department of Nursing Education supports this mission by striving to offer efficient and effective educational programming to our staff so that they can provide the highest level of care to our patients and their families. Our overall goal is to improve the patient experience and promote positive outcomes through educating our staff on best practices, current healthcare trends, and annual nursing competency.

We achieve this goal by offering the following to our staff:

• BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, and Other Specialty Certifications
• Annual Nursing Core Competency/Unit Specific Competency-based Skills Fairs
• Annual CNA Skills Fair
• Rhythm Recognition and Cardiac Pharmacology
• STEMI education
• IV Certification Courses for RNs and LPNs
• Charge Nurse Course
• Comprehensive Orientation and Cross-training Programs
• Leadership Training
• Ad Hoc Training for New Equipment/New Procedures
• ...and many other topics of interest.

Another important function of the Department of Nursing Education is our commitment to healthcare education in our area. Maine Coast works with area CRNA, Nursing, CNA, and High School programs to support the education of future healthcare providers.
