Special Services

Maine Coast Memorial Hospital offers a variety of special services to make your stay as pleasant and comfortable as possible. These special services include the following:

Education

If you would like written information on diagnosis, medications or procedures, please ask your nurse.

Mail

Letters and packages for patients are delivered each morning by volunteers. Letters and parcels that arrive after you have been discharged are forwarded to your home. Outgoing mail may be left at the nurses’ station or given to a volunteer.

Flowers

Flowers are delivered to your room by volunteers. Please keep in mind that large plants and flowers are difficult to deliver and remove upon discharge. Glass containers are discouraged as they are a safety issue. Flowers are available for sale at the hospital from 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. The Switchboard or volunteer staff will assist you.

Newspapers

Newspapers may be purchased at the entrance to the hospital. You may have a newspaper brought to your room by asking your nurse.

Cards

Greeting cards may be purchased in the lobby by Registration.

For the Hearing Impaired

A telecommunications device is available to help hearing impaired patients or patients who want to communicate with a hearing impaired relative or friend.

Arrangements can also be made to have a person who uses sign language help a hearing impaired or deaf patient.

Interpreters

The hospital has access to interpreters for a number of foreign languages should a patient require it. If you need help with this, please contact your nurse.
