Maine Volunteer Director of the Year
Terri Swanson, Director of Volunteers at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital in Ellsworth, is this year’s recipient of the DOVE Award (in Maine). Each year the New England Association of Volunteers recognizes a member of their organization that goes beyond all limits in facilitating a volunteer organization that brings true benefit to a public healthcare facility.

Terri Swanson, Maine Coast Memorial Hospital Volunteer Director, received the DOVE Award (outstanding Volunteer Director of the Year Award) at the Maine Hospital Association annual meeting in Rockport last week.  Terri has been the hospital’s Director of Volunteers for the past 7 years. Mrs. Swanson has served Maine Coast Memorial Hospital for the past seven years as Director of Volunteers. Currently the hospital enjoys the benefit of over 150 folks who volunteer their time in over 20 departments of the hospital - each saving untold dollars in healthcare costs alone with helping navigate the intricacies of hospital operations. In her role as Volunteer Director, Terri brings organization and meaning to the process. Working with the Ellsworth and Sumner High Schools, she also offers a mentoring program for students - helping them gain insight into the corporate world of healthcare and benefit from the life experiences of the healthcare professional with which they are partnering.

Mrs. Swanson, in addition, also oversees the medical alert call system, Lifeline, which provides remote emergency call capability to over 520 folks living alone throughout Hancock and Washington Counties.

Terri received this award at the Maine Hospital Association’s annual meeting at the Samoset Resort in Rockport. In recognizing the award, Hospital President and CEO Douglas Jones said, “Terri is a very valuable asset to our hospital’s ability to serve the Downeast Community. I am pleased that her talents have been recognized by her peers as she is most deserving of this honor.”
