What a community effort in support of Maine
Coast Memorial Hospital! Kudos go to all the
Poinsettia Ball volunteers, attendees and
sponsors for meeting the goal of $50,000 net
proceeds for otolaryngology and ICU
equipment for the hospital.

Jim Donnelly (VP of sponsor
Machias Savings Bank) and Doug
Jones (President/CEO MCMH) thank
the generous folks who
contributed to the auction of
the wine basket: Wayne Wright
(Coastline Homes), Elizabeth
Sutherland (Sutherland Weston),
Dr. Peter & Kimberly Cummings
(Hancock Dental), Cary Weston
(Sutherland Weston), Patrick
Jordan (R. F. Jordan) Mary
Bromley & Scott Toothaker (Audiology
of Center of Maine). |
Poinsettia Ball sponsors R. H. Foster and
Machias Savings Bank were joined by Albert
and Barbara Harmon who donated 500
poinsettias plants for the spectacular 20
feet tall poinsettia tree to complete the
magical winter wonderland. The sponsors were
supported in their efforts by five
businesses who donated $10,000 in a fun
filled auction. R. F. Jordan & Sons
Construction, Coastline Homes, Audiology
Center of Maine, Sutherland Weston Marketing
Communications and Dr. Peter Cummings and
staff all joined together to donate $2,000
for a basket of wine donated by the
Poinsettia Ball Committee members.
Holiday
cocktail music was provided by Kaveh
Haghkerdar and a delicious meal prepared by
the Downeast Chapter of the American
Culinary Federation was served to 508 guests
by an all volunteer wait staff of local
community members from Addison to Bass
Harbor. The traditional 12 Days of Christmas
rendition was “played out” by the guests and
volunteers as well. Guests danced until
midnight to the live music of Jump City Jazz
and when the evening ended, each couple was
presented a beautiful poinsettia plant
compliments of Albert and Barbara Harmon.
This is truly a testament of the wonderful
community in which we live. Pictures of the
kitchen construction, setup and the night of
the Ball along with a complete list of
supporters are available online at
