Otolaryngologist Octavio J. Carreno, MD Joins Maine Coast Memorial Hospital Staff
 
Sean Maloney, President of the Maine Coast Memorial Hospital Medical Staff, announced that Octavio J. Carreno, MD, FACS, has joined the hospital medical staff in the practice of otolaryngology.

Dr. Carreno comes to Ellsworth from Orange Park, FL, where he was on the medical staff of Orange Park Medical Center and Baptist Medical Center as well as Staff Otolaryngologist at Wolfson Children’s Hospital in Jacksonville.

A graduate of Tulane University School of Medicine, Dr. Carreno completed his internship in internal medicine and residency in general surgery at Tulane University Medical Center, and his residency in Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery at George Washington University Medical Center in Washington, DC.

After attending the Naval Aerospace Medical Institute (NAMI), Dr. Carreno was appointed the Staff Otolaryngologist/Flight Surgery Fellow at NAMI. While on active duty Dr. Carreno was the Staff Otolaryngologist/Naval Flight Surgeon at Camp LeJeune and Cherry Point Naval Hospitals in North Carolina. He served with the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit as Unit Surgeon/Otolaryngologist – Head and Neck Surgeon for United States & Coalition Forces Central Command Area of Operations, Operation Enduring Freedom. Currently, Dr. Carreno is Lieutenant Commander, Medical Corps, U.S. Naval Reserve.

As a medical specialist, Dr. Carreno is highly skilled in a number of procedures including pediatric adenoidectomy, pediatric tonsillectomy, snoring and sleep apnea surgery, pediatric and adult ear surgery, image-guided endoscopic sinus surgery, minimally invasive balloon sinuplasty sinus procedure, nasal/septal surgery, thyroid surgery and head and neck cancer surgery. He finds a special reward in working with children with pediatric otolaryngological problems. Dr. Carreno’s joining Dr. Bradley Goldstein in Maine Coast Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery will greatly increase the services available to our patients.
