Maine Coast Memorial Hospital surgeons Mary
M. (Molly) Collins, Michael J. Mason, Amy E.
Tan, and Bradley J. Goldstein were named
“Fellows of the American College of
Surgeons” during convocation ceremonies at
the College’s 93rd annual Clinical Congress
in New Orleans.

Dr. Molly Collins
was awarded her medical
doctorate
degree from Albany Medical College in
1985. She has been an MCMH staff member
for 15 years and also performs surgeries
at Blue Hill Hospital. In 1992, Dr.
Collins was board certified by the
American Board of Surgery. She holds
memberships in the American Medical
Association, Maine Medical Association
and the American Society of General
Surgeons and her primary surgical
interest is breast surgery.

ichael
J. Mason, MD,
received his medical doctorate from
Emory University in 1993 and is
currently in practice with Eden Surgical
Associates at Maine Coast Memorial
Hospital. Dr. Mason attained board
certification from the American Board of
Surgery in 1999 and has been on the MCMH
staff for 9 years.
Amy
E.
Tan, MD, graduated from
Northwestern University in 1998 and in
2006 received board certification from
the American Board of Surgery. An
MCMH staff member for 3 years, Dr. Tan
has a strong professional interest in
general and laparoscopic surgery, and
holds memberships in the Association of
Women Surgeons, Maine Medical
Association, and Society of American
Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons.
Dr.
Bradley J. Goldstein, a
2-year MCMH staff member, received his
medical doctorate
degree
in 1999 from Upstate Medical College in
Syracuse, NY, and trained at Johns
Hopkins University. In 2005, Dr.
Goldstein attained board certification
from the American Board of
Otolaryngology. With a professional
interest in head and neck surgery, Dr.
Goldstein’s professional memberships
include the American Academy of
Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery.
By meeting
the College’s stringent membership
requirement, Fellows of the College have
earned the distinguished right to use
the designation of “F.A.C.S.” (Fellow,
American College of Surgeons).
Applicants must be graduates of an
approved medical school; must have
completed advanced training in on the of
the 14 surgical specialties recognized
by the College; possess certification by
an American surgical specialty board;
and must have been in practice in the
same geographic location for at least
one year at the time of application.
Prior to admission into Fellowship,
surgeons must further demonstrate
ethical fitness and professional
proficiency, and three-fourths of the
Board of Regents must approve acceptance
as a Fellow of the College.
