  • Interstitial Cystitis
Interstitial cystitis (IC) is a chronic and painful condition of the bladder. People with IC have a bladder wall that is tender and easily irritated, leading to uncomfortable symptoms. Thousands of people are affected by IC. Although IC currently has no cure, your doctor can help manage the symptoms to make you feel better and live more comfortably.

  • Infertility
Your doctor can help find the source of a couple’s fertility problems and explore all possible solutions. From simple steps that can be done on your own to highly advanced medical techniques, the options are numerous and encouraging.

  • Lithotripsy
Lithotripsy is a method of crushing a kidney stone while it is still inside your body. It’s a noninvasive procedure that doesn’t require incisions. During lithotripsy, carefully directed shock waves pass harmlessly through your body and hit the stone, causing it to crumble into sand like particles. These particles can then pass easily out of your urinary tract.

  • Incontinence
Incontinence is not a disease or an inevitable part of getting older. It is a symptom or side effect of another medical condition. Pregnancy, childbirth and repetitive straining or damage to muscles can lead to permanent weakening of the pelvic muscles that control continence. In addition, common health conditions including Neurologic disease or injury, such as Parkinson’s, stroke or spinal cord injury; obstructed urination; some types of surgery; and certain birth defects or chronic medical conditions such as diabetes can be the cause. Prostate problems and the treatments needed to correct the problems are the most frequent causes of urinary incontinence in men.

Impotence __ Erectile Dysfunction

Impotence is common. It forms in about 20% of our male population that is over forty years of age. Here at Maine Coast Urology we offer a number of highly effective treatments for Erectile Dysfunction. These include:

  1. Oral medication – Sildenafil, also known as Viagra, is the most widely used therapy.
  2. Intracavernasal or injection therapy has a fairly high rate of patient acceptance.
  3. Surgical penile prosthesis – the “gold standard” of Erectile Dysfunction treatment. Results show a very high rate of patient and partner satisfaction.

If impotence is a concern we encourage you to make an appointment for a consultation and discuss this matter with either Dr. Telsey at (207) 664-5455.

Men can enjoy sexual activity throughout their lives, but the aging process changes the way the body reacts and functions. Counseling may help you adapt to changes in your body as well as changes in your relationship with your partner.
