Preventive Education Series
Osteoporosis affects one out of two post
menopausal women. With this statistic, every woman
can benefit from this educational series. MCMH
offers three different programs to people of all
ages and in varying states of health.
This class is designed for anyone interested in
protecting their health. Learn about diet and
exercise tips that will maintain your bone density.
Risk factors, both preventable and hereditary will
be discussed. Learn what drugs can do to help reduce
your risk. Behavior modifications that reduce risk
are also discussed.
This one hour class is offered quarterly at
Health-Link. Community groups
interested in offering this informative class to
their members can request a group presentation.
There is no charge.

Osteoporosis Education Series This series of classes is designed for those who
have been diagnosed with Osteoporosis. Three 2 hour
modules are offered one day per week for three
weeks. Class is offered every other month and the
cost is $30.00.
Classes include sessions taught by a nurse, a
dietitian, pharmacist and a physical therapist.
The first class includes an introduction to
Osteoporosis by a registered nurse. Risk factors
will be identified. A pharmacist will then discuss
pharmaceutical options in the prevention and
treatment of osteoporosis. The first session will
end with the nurse requesting that each participant
complete a recording their own diet history, to be
returned for the next session.
The second session in the program will be conducted
by a registered dietitian, who will discuss the role
of diet in both the prevention and the treatment of
Osteoporosis. Each participant's diet history will
be reviewed. Risk factors will be assessed and
changes in diet will be planned for each individual.
The last session of the educational series will be
conducted by a physical therapist. An exercise plan
will be presented and participants will learn how to
do each recommended exercise. The class will
conclude with a discussion of the safety issues
involved with osteoporosis.
