"I enjoy all facets of my practice, and feel honored
to participate in the miraculous events of the birth
process."
Renata grew up on a small
farm in Hancock. The only child of an artist father and a
general practitioner mother, her early experiences helped
shape a great love for the beauty of the natural world and a
curiosity to understand the “why” of life. The art and
science of midwifery felt like a perfect fit from a young
age.
Renata entered the R.N. diploma program at E.M.M.C. in
Bangor, Maine in 1981 with the plan to become a Nurse
Midwife. Life brought other interesting experiences (as it
always does). Renata worked as an R.N. in many areas of
nursing, as well as in obstetrics, obtaining her B.S.N. in
1991. In 1994 she graduated from the University of
Pennsylvania with a Masters in Nursing, specialty Nurse
Midwifery. In 1995 she returned to practice in the Downeast
Maine area; since 1998 working with both Diane Ferenbach,
CNM and Carole Ray, RN.
The working relationship of the practice uses the principle
of “circling”, which helps each coworker to have democratic
input and equal responsibility. Renata lives in Hancock with
her husband and spends free time kayaking and painting. She
has one son, born in 1984, now grown but, of course, never
far from her mind.
