Dear Friends,
I am writing to you about our immediate need for two specialty hospital beds in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Given the technology currently available for delivering excellence and safety in patient care, we might title this appeal, “This is not your mother’s or father’s hospital bed”.

The
Cost for the Critical Care Bed is $34,000

I'm personally asking
for your support of healthcare Downeast Maine.

The enclosed brochure offers important information from the manufacturer. It will give you a glimpse of how technology has made significant improvements in patient care. Those of us who have experienced time in a hospital bed will agree that improvements in this area would be most welcomed. Though we need to purchase many new beds in the near future, I am asking for your help to acquire these especially high-end (cost-wise) critical care beds for the ICU where this technology is critically important to our sickest, at-risk patients. The “in touch” features assist caregivers by gathering and organizing patient data while reminding them of matters that will make patient care more timely. They also control other patient care equipment through their power support surfaces and data ports. Of utmost importance is the natural interest of both caregivers and patients for safety and comfort. The extraordinary features of these beds allow caregivers and patients to work together to lower the risk of injury to both.
As you might guess, the cost of the beds is of a nature that makes us step back a bit. But there is real value here and so we must again seek your help. Two are immediately needed at a price of $34,000 each. As with all of the requests we make for your help, we will be grateful for whatever you can give.
Once again, many thanks for your continued friendship and support of our hospital’s mission.
Sincerely,
Sean T. Maloney, MD
