Dental Health FAQs

Do you see emergencies?

How long will I have to wait for an appointment?
You won’t have to wait long. For a routine cleaning we can usually get patients in within two or three weeks. Appointments are available, even for new patients.

What if I don’t have insurance?
For those without insurance Maine Coast Community Dental Clinic offers a sliding scale fee payment option. This plan considers your family size and income level, and reduces fees you pay for services. By answering a couple of questions our staff can quickly find out if you or your family can benefit from this plan.

Do you accept Mainecare insurance?
We do accept Mainecare for dental services. Mainecare covers services for children up to age 21. For adults, Mainecare does not cover routine care like cleanings. Please talk to our staff if you have questions. If Mainecare doesn’t cover the service you need, you can apply for our sliding scale fee.

What if I can’t make my appointment?
If you can’t make your appointment you must let us know 24 hours in advance. We will still provide emergency care during this time.

Why do I have to confirm my appointment?
Our office will call to confirm your appointment 48 hours in advance. If we can’t reach you, or you do not return our call to confirm your appointment, we will cancel your appointment and offer it to someone else.

Can I come in with my child when they are having work done?
Adults are allowed to come in the treatment room with a younger child, but for safety reasons we need to limit this to one (1) adult and no other children. If you plant to go in with one of your children, please bring someone else to care for our other children in the lobby. Children cannot be left unattended.
